 Eight Formal
Leadership
Theories

(Kurt, S. (2022)

Great Man

Leadership is a male quality; leaders are born with leadership qualities.

Trait

Leadership traits are inherited.

Contingency

Leadership balances the combination of needs, behaviors, and context.

Situational

Conditions require a course of actions that best address the variables presented in a situation.

Behavioral

Through observation, training, and development, people can become leaderships.

Participative

Encourages participation from the group to foster group synergy and commitment.

Management

Responsibilities of supervision, and organizational performance.

Relationship

Synergizes leaderships and followers; inspires and motivates.

According to Dr. Yang, collaboration analytics subject matter expert, the most successful companies today, are led by leaders who possess five main informal leadership styles, innovator, integrator, dominance, expert, and protector. The two styles that drive the most success are innovator and integrator (TEDx, 2020b).

I have color coordinated formal leadership theories with informal leadership styles. As you can see, the integrator style correlates with the relationship theory. And these two leadership qualities will support the Super Mind Cafe because they foster employee inclusiveness, connection, and support.
